Light Emitting Tile
The SolarCap Lighting system consists of a modular, self- contained Light Emitting Tile (LET) that is ideal for decorative lighting, or pedestrian traffic. The Lighting system is powered by the Sun's free solar energy. These unique LET(s) store the Sun's energy using the latest Pseudocapacitor technology. Pseudocapacitor 's provide energy storage using environmentally friendly components , unlike the high maintenance, environmentally hazardous and narrow operating range of the rechargeable batteries that are currently used in solar devices. Pseudocapacitor technology combined with solid state Light Emitting Diode (s) (LED) provides a LET that requires little or no maintenance and operates in a wide temperature range for more than 10 years.
Lighting Operation
During the day the LET uses solar cells to capture energy from the sun. That energy is converted to electricity and stored using SolarCap's Pseudocapacitor. After charging the Pseudocapacitor, in the LET, the free energy stored will automatically energize the Light Emitting Diode(s) (LED) with a soft glow of light for pedestrian pathways, and decorative lighting. Charging the Pseudocapacitors to capacity takes about one hour in direct sunlight and may take up to eight hours* in shady or indirect lighting conditions. The soft glow of the light emitting diode(s) will provide light for up to 12 hours with a completely charged Pseudocapacitor.
